Our Team

Elita Frid, BA, MBA

My passion for science began at a young age, but I did not have any role models or any guidance, nor did I know what types of careers there were in science.

It wasn’t until I had children of my own that I realised I wanted them to have role models and to experience science from a young age the way I never did. I decided to use the science I learned in university to help children and thus came about the idea for Science Starz. My mission is to ignite an interest in science and STEM – to plant a seed in children, through hands-on experiences that tie in with the real world, so that they will take up science at secondary level and ultimately pursue a career in science or engineering.

Mary Wilson

Head Facilitator

My name is Mary and I’ve been working with Science Starz about 4 years. I’m a busy mother of 3 and grandmother of 4 and life can be hectic at times. Working with Science Starz has helped me regain my confidence that I would have had in the workplace and in myself. Science Starz is a place to work where there is encouragement, flexibility and understanding. The number of happy faces we see and the thanks and appreciation from teachers, parents and, more importantly, the children is so rewarding and affirming.

Jacqueline Cunningham

Head Facilitator

My name is Jacqueline and I have been with Science Starz for almost two years. Being a busy mother of two, Science Starz has helped me on my road back to employment and given me a new lease of life. Being part of the Science Starz team is both enjoyable and fulfilling. Delivering workshops to children of all ages and abilities keeps us on our toes, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. When we see the smiles on the faces of all those we work with and when we get asked many questions about science there’s no better feeling.
